Sewage Treatment Plants (STP)

A Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) is an engineered system designed to treat domestic and commercial wastewater (sewage) so it can be safely reused or discharged into the environment. It removes suspended solids, organic matter, nutrients, and pathogens, making the water compliant with environmental standards.

How it Works

Preliminary Treatment – Removes large solids, grit, and oil.

Anaerobic Digesters

Anaerobic digesters are closed, oxygen-free systems designed to biologically treat organic wastewater and solid waste. They use anaerobic bacteria to break down biodegradable materials, producing biogas (methane + CO₂) and a nutrient-rich slurry called digestate.

How they Work?

Organic waste (industrial effluent, sewage sludge, food waste) is fed into the digester.
In the absence of oxygen, anaerobic microorganisms break down complex organic matter.
The process produces biogas (used for energy generation) and digestate (used as fertilizer or compost).
The system operates continuously or in batch mode under mesophilic (35–37°C) or thermophilic (50–55°C) conditions.
